Our Story

PAWS AP began when founder Dr. Priya Nair witnessed a badly injured street dog being ignored outside a busy Vijayawada market. With no rescue infrastructure available, she treated the dog herself — and realized thousands of animals faced the same fate daily.

She brought together three friends, borrowed a van, and started responding to animal distress calls on weekends. Word spread. Within a year, the team had grown to 30 volunteers. By 2016, PAWS AP had registered as an NGO, opened a shelter, and established veterinary partnerships across Vijayawada.

Today, PAWS AP operates a 24-hour helpline, mobile rescue units, adoption camps, vaccination drives, and awareness programs. Our Animal Rescue Coordination System — this platform — was built to ensure no animal report slips through the cracks.
